چکیده

C hronic lung diseases (CLDs), including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, lung cancer, interstitial lung disease and pulmonary hypertension, present a significant and rising global health problem. CLDs develop at the interface between genetic susceptibilities and environmental aspects, and are currently the second leading cause of death worldwide. Thus far, therapies of only limited effect exist for CLDs; the search for novel and effective therapeutic strategies has been at the centre of recent major research efforts. As part of the pathogenesis of many CLDs, ill-defined lung injuries and failed repair mechanisms ultimately lead to perturbed lung architecture that is incompatible with normal respiratory function. In particular, the immunological mechanisms that initiate and maintain CLD remain to be fully unravelled.

A Review of The Role of The Microbiome on Immune Responses and Its Association With Cystic Fibrosis

In recent years, the microbiome has been recognized as a key regulator of immune responses. Evidence suggests that changes in the microbiome can lead to chronic disease and even exacerbation of the disease. Impairment of innate immunity resulting from microbial incompatibility may worsen host susceptibility to infection and exacerbate chronic lung diseases. Specific microbes play a key role in ...

Osteomyelitis and lung abscess due to Aspergillus fumigatus in a chronic granulomatous disease patient

Background and Purpose: Chronic granulomatous disease (CGD) is an inherited disorder of the nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADPH) oxidase complex. This disorder results in recurrent life-threatening bacterial and fungal infections. Aspergillus species are the most common fungal infections in these patients. Case Report: Herein, we present a case of fungal infection in a girl wi...

Immune Dysfunction in Cystic Fibrosis

Absence of the cystic fibrosis transmembrane regulator (CFTR) function leads to chronic lung disease characterized by inflammation and persistent infections. The mechanisms for the increased susceptibility of the respiratory tract for infections in CF are most likely complex and only partially understood. Most attention has been focused on the effect of the defective expression of CFTR in epith...

Immune dysregulation in children with allergic asthma, a close relationship between IL-17 but not IL-4 or IFN-, and disease severity

Background : Allergic asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease of airway that often determined with degrees of inflammation, hypersensitivity, bronchial constriction and airway changes. Th1, Th2 and Th17 cells are the main cells involved in the pathophysiology of asthma. . Therefore, this study evaluated Th1, Th2, and Th17 cells functions by assessment the expression of INF-g, IL-4, and IL-17 g...

A circadian based inflammatory response – implications for respiratory disease and treatment

Circadian clocks regulate the daily timing of many of our physiological, metabolic and biochemical functions. The immune system also displays circadian oscillations in immune cell count, synthesis and cytokine release, clock gene expression in cells and organs of the immune system as well as clock-controlled genes that regulate immune function. Circadian disruption leads to dysregulation of imm...
